Starting Again
I have a boyfriend. These words now feel so foreign to me. Partner. Someone to call. Someone to hold. Someone to trust. This comes at such a strange time, and very fast. I’m moving to Portland in 2 months and all of a sudden there is a man I know I can’t miss out on. I can’t even put it into words. The strangest thing is that after all of this time, maybe my instincts were right, that when I didn’t feel fear it would be right. I don’t know what will happen when I move, or while I am getting ready to move. But I know that I want to have this man as my boyfriend right now. Whatever the future holds will be seen, I’m not afraid. I’m not afraid at all.
I honestly don’t know this man as well as I “should”. I know the way that I feel when I think about him, the comfort I feel when I see his name on my phone, the way everyone else has noticed a change in me, the way I never want to stop holding his hand, the way I could go on forever. But these aren’t the things that make me know. It feels the same as when I got the call that my sister was being transferred from Boston to Oregon, I knew I had to move to be near her.
I’m excited about everything to do with this. The changes I’m making aren’t daunting. The puzzle pieces are finally fitting together. This is exactly where I’m supposed to be, and it feels incredible.
